Lunchcrunch #24: Uncle Bruno Not Impressed.

Lunchcrunch#24: Uncle Bruno Not Impressed.
Here you go! Spent 5 hours on this guy. Usually I don't polypaint lunch crunches.. I feel like it takes away from an actual sculpture, but today is Saturday, so.. =)

Lunch Crunch #12

Been pretty busy lately, here's a first crunch in last two weeks!
I didn't rush it much, kinda had fun with shapes and form, experimenting with expressions. I think mouth still definitively could use an improvement, as well as ears.

Time: 1.5 hours.

Medusa

Here's a little Medusa sculpt. Spent about 8 hours. Some areas are still very rough.
Inspired by Cesar Dacol Jr.s' Medusa sculpt

Lunch Crunch #10

A 30 minutes eye sculpt. Wanted to test myself and not use any subtools or insert brushes, like I always do. Definitely added the challenge.

Lunch Crunch #9

Yet another anatomorphosis sketch . I sculpted this thing twice. First time the blend between two busts looked great, but the expression could use an improvement. Due to some terrible accident the file got shredded and I sculpted it the second time from scratch. This time facial expression improved quite a bit, but the morph in between is something I am really not happy about! I must have been getting tired of it. But life goes on. It was a great practice and I know how to improve. Spent 5 hours on it, which is way too long for a lunch crunch. (Five hours lunch? Yeeah!) Next sketches will be timed and limited to 1 hour. See you later! Leave your comments! =)

Lunch Crunch #8

This was supposed to be a quick 1 hour hand sketch that turned into a painfully long 2 days mini-project.
Sometimes I am a slave of my own ideas! =)

Lunch Crunch #6 / Ugly fish is ugly

Probably not the most successful design, but it was ton of fun.
Two hours.

This time I actually drew a quick 2D doodle first. And then sculpted the thing based on that.

SuperBat Kid

Finally found time to finish this project that I originally started for pixologic Halloween challenge.
Enjoy!

Lunch Crunch #5 / 6 a.m. sculpt

Hey there! Here's another quick doodle. Did it at six in the morning, so it took a bit longer.
My problem was that I couldn't see shapes with my regular sculpting matcap.

To fix it, I created a 3 point light setup with colored lights. Complementary colors work the best. This way you can clearly see the outline of your surface. It's hard to explain, try it out yourself! =)

Girl with a Pearl Earring timelapse pt.1

A quick sculpting demo I did while sitting in a pub and chatting with people.
Took me about two hours. In part two I am going to work on clothing and details. Eventually I plan to have a fully textured, retopologized piece. Enjoy!
The motion is a bit jerky, because I had to speed it up quite a bit. Sorry for that!
Video is not intended for a commercial use.

Anatomy Sketchbook 001. In the beginning.

Since anatomy studies was one of the main reasons I started this blog, it might be a good idea to mention it.

Not sure when exactly I realized that I dig human anatomy, but pretty sure guys like Boris Vallejo and Frazetta pushed me towards that discovery.

Artistic anatomy is something you do not learn in a month or a year. Evolution was refining the design of a body for thousands (if not millions) of years. It takes quite a bit for us, humans, to get how it works.

I started my journey almost three years ago. Here is a chunk from my first sketchbook. This is where it starts.

Sick day fun

Bad news, everyone! I'm sick!

Bored, tired and infected, I've decided to have some fun today and tested out Mayas DMM Fracture and caustics in Vray.

The model is my logo. Now with all the bells and whistles it's pretty unreadable and caustics need tweaking, which, I'll definitively do, but my temperature is rising right now, so I'm off to bed. =)

Here's a version for a Facebook cover image.

Introducing some color / Portrait study.

Here it is. Surprising it wasn't too painful to paint. It's not the greatest thing ever, but its pretty cool.

Stumbled upon this little handy site today! Thanks, Ten24.
It let's you embed .obj's right into your blog. Supports shading modes and poly count display. Cute stuff!
EDIT: You need a WebGL enabled browser.

Value Study 2

Here you go, blog!
Tried something more ambitious than a coffee cup and end up paying for it with a lot more work hours. Some  areas are still very rough, but overall its not too bad. Hey, it's my second value study! Gonna do more coffee cups in future tho.

Value Study 1

Feels like a natural evolution from ol' school pencil and paper. I started getting into digital painting.
Here's a little value study. Took about an hour.

Life, Challenge.

Hey there!
Life is being really busy and exciting lately! No time for much blogging.
I am currently working on a CGHUB Production Challenge 2012.
The goal is to recreate this concept by Adrian Smith in 3D.

I am a huge fan of Adrians' work, especially Warhammer 40k stuff.. ( For the Emperor!! )
..so I'm super inspired to take this piece to the finish line.
You can check out my progress at my CGHUB thread. Once the challenge is complete, I am going to upload the final  result here!
See you soon! =)
